About

What is the Traditional Folk Culture Collection?

The Traditional Folk Culture Collection is an online database of objects from the area of traditional folk culture across the whole of Slovakia, created of materials from collections of private and legal persons. The project is implemented by the Slovak Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre, a professional workplace of the Slovak State Traditional Dance Company, a state-subsidised organization founded by the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.

It is based on the National Project, the Digital Collection of Traditional Folk Culture, a project carried out within the Operational Program Informatisation of Society, Priority Axis 2, financed from the European Union Structural Funds and the State Budget of Slovak Republic. The implementation of the national project significantly contributed to the acquisition of materials and the establishment of a technical background.

Is it possible to download selected objects?

All objects that are available on www.fondtlk.sk can be downloaded and used free of charge for non-commercial purposes (especially for study and in the area of education). In case of further distribution, it is necessary to state the owner of record (Slovak State Traditional Dance Company) and source (www.fondtlk.sk).

According to the licenses the objects are not allowed to be used for any commercial purposes.

Would you like to contribute to the creation of the digital database?

Do you possess photographs, videos, film strips, audio recordings, documents or interesting items from the area of traditional folk culture? Please, do not hesitate to contact us if you are in the possession of any collection of traditional folk culture materials for which you may grant licensing rights and are interested in making them available, or if you are interested in adding data to the already accessible records.

The objects you make available will be digitised either at your home or in our Slovak Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre. We will process the materials and then return them to you. They will be added to the Collection in digital form. For each object, the source information will be given, that is, from whom we received the material.
